DEC Sweden: three more projects awarded
Stugsundsudden, Söderhamn (Gävleborg County)
On a former wood impregnation site, 7.000 m³ sediments, 50.000 m³ soil and the groundwater were contaminated with PAH, arsenic, chrome, cupper, creosote en hydrocarbons. The contamination with heavy metals was caused by the use of a filler during the impregnation process. The project is worth 60 million SEK and finishes in October 2010. Stenborgskanalen, Gävle (Gävleborg County)
The Stenborg Channel is about 280 meter long and 20 meter wide. Because of the former activiteit of the nearby gasplant caused the tar contamination of 20.000 m³ sediments. The contamination consists of PAH, heavy metals, cyanides, aliphatics and aromatics. This assignment is worth 27.6 million SEK and finishes in June 2010. Read the full details on this project here.
Fagervik, Timrå (Västernorrland County)
The remediation of the industrial site Fagervik in Timrå is already at phase 3. Through environmental dredging and excavation, 29.850 m³ soil or sediments will be removed, of which 12.000 m³ consists of paper pulp mixed with "kisaska (pdf, 87 KB)" (pyrite ashes). The execution finishes in May 2010.
